Despite what you may have heard Phuket is still one of the most beautiful spots in Thailand. Although like most places it has suffered from over-development, there are still some relatively unaffected corners and Bangtao Beach is one of the best beaches in Thailand.

Getting There: Most people fly
via Bangkok, which is served by many airlines. There are regular flights on the short hop from there to Phuket Airport. There are also direct flights from many Asian destinations, including Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong.

From the airport it is a 20 minute taxi ride to Bangtao. There is a taxi kiosk when you turn right outside the airport. You pay in advance (550 Bhat as of September 2011) and you will not be ripped off as they have clamped down rogue taxi drivers in recent years. They all know Bangtao Beach but may not have heard of Bangtao Beach Gardens, so it is best to give the exact address. We are situated at the southern end of the beach near the road to Surin Beach and the exclusive Amanpuri and Chedi resorts. For more detailed directions, see the map page.

Seasons: Best time to go for weather is the winter season – November to March, when the monsoon blows from the North East. During this time you will typically get the fine sunny days and not too much rain.  The sea tends to be a bit calmer during this time and the beaches are perfect for swimming. The rest of the year is normally referred to as the low season and tends to be hot and sticky with a lot more rain, but it is still possible to find perfectly decent weather as well.
